Mama Knows Movement - Dr. MaryAnne Dimak, DC, MS

Dr. MaryAnne Dimak, DC, MS joins me on this episode to discuss her passion project @mamaknowsmovement which is her social media approach to helping soon to be our expectant mothers maintain a healthy relationship with movement.

We also get into body image issues, the most common myths about pregnancy and post-partum care, and how to just ‘let it go’.

Dr. MaryAnne Dimak, DC, MS Bio

Dr. MaryAnne Harrington Dimak grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota, where she was very active in the community by playing volleyball, softball, and basketball along with being involved in camps, volunteer work, and youth activities. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she received a B.S. in Biological Sciences. After graduation, she moved to Saint Louis, MO to pursue her degree in Chiropractic and throughout her years there, developed a sense of fitness and health and realized her passion to help others towards their goals of total wellness. ​Dr. Dimak graduated Cum Laude from Logan College of Chiropractic. In the two years following her graduation, she also completed her M.S. in Nutrition and Human Performance and an M.S. in Sports Science and Rehabilitation.

As Dr. Dimak learned more about movement, she realized the correlations between yoga and rehabilitation and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training. She integrates that knowledge into her patient care leads yoga workshops, and teaches at yoga teacher training. Her passion for helping her patients with movement and educating the community has also allowed her the opportunity to be a lululemon ambassador.

Dr. Dimak and her husband opened up a chiropractic practice in Orange County, CA, that they operated for 5 years when they decided to relocate to Texas to be closer to the family as they welcomed their daughter, Madeline, in September 2018. Dr. Dimak joined the faculty at Parker University in January 2019 and is looking forward to being able to contribute to the educational journeys of future chiropractors.
